Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family with the benefits of community service. First of all the Selmons were born by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. The Selmons were also among the three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. In his three years as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and won two national championships. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained a degree as an educator. Fourth year of the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. He settled down in Tampa after college, playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and played three times in the all-pro league. His business career began. The first position he held was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at 256 pounds in college as a player, captained his team throughout 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
